Do you have a hard time getting started on big projects because they’re, well, big? Instead of trying to find one huge chunk of time to tackle the whole project, find smaller time slots and work on a piece of the project. If you’re working on a big report, commit to a set amount of time (say 30 minutes straight, without peeking at your email) or finish one section before stopping.

Does your office need a makeover? Tackle it one file or desk drawer at a time. Do just one a day and in a week (or two) your whole office will be done. Instead of looking for an entire day to devote to the project, do it step by step.

Stuck on a project? Take a break. The more drastically you can switch gears the better. If your project requires logic, do something creative for a few minutes. If you're working with a group on your project, take five and go for a walk by yourself. The change of pace and environment may be just the spark you need.
